The Morikami Museum and Japane

Date Added: February 19, 2008 07:38:42 PM

The Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens is one of the most beautiful places I have been too. If you go to Florida I recommend going and seeing it. It is a wonderful collection of Japan's history, landscaping, and architecture. If you have always wanted to go to Japan, but could not afford it, well then this is the next best thing. Once your there you will be greeted by one of the friendly staff. You can either tour the grounds yourself or go on one of there many guided tours (I toured it on my own). You can also get a map of the grounds that tells you a little bit of the museum's history. You will love the beauty and simplicity of the gardens. You will also be able to see a Japanese Ryokan as well.

Once you see it, you will agree that it is an interesting and inspiring place. After you tour the grounds, stop off at their restaurant and gift shop. The restaurant serves authentic Japanese delights. Once your done there, zip on over to their gift shop and see everything there. You just might find something you like and if one of your friends asks you can always say you went to Japan. The gift shop sells many things such as: Kimonos, incenses, teas, Waving Cat Statues (very popular in Japan), Japanese fans and umbrellas, and much, much, more. After that you can tour the Museum or you can tour the museum before you see the gardens. I toured the Museum before the gardens. It let me know where some of the ideas for the gardens and the Japanese Ryokan came from.

Here is a little more history about the Museum and gardens. The Morikami Museum and Gardens was first constructed in 1977. It also contains a lot of Japanese history in one place (or at least here in the US). It is a marvelous place to visit and I highly recommend it.

** On a scale of 1-10 (10 being the best) in the following categories, I would give The Morikami Museum and Japanese gardens a:

Customer Service - 8.5
Food - 9
Gardens - 9.5
Architecture (buildings) - 9.5
Museum - 8.5

I give major thumbs up to
