“After this week is over; after I graduate from high school; once I get in to a good college; after I get a job...” we always wait for things, for periods in our lives to be over; then we say we’ll be happy...Finally.
People say after they find the perfect spouse and get married they’ll be happy and relived; then there are problems in the marriage and they wait until they have children expecting that it’ll be the solution to their seemingly never-ending problems. Then looking after the children is such a burden that they wait for the first couple of years to pass but once they hit puberty and they are teenagers it becomes even more difficult to understand them. “After they become adults we’ll be happy” we say. But the ruth is as long as we keep on using the word “after” we will never find happiness in life. By concentrating on the future and our feelings in the future we forget today. We keep on waiting and waiting for something to happen but it never does because we are just too lazy to act ourselves. We wait for things to happen to us but unless we do something, we take action, we will just keep on waiting...and once we realise what we’ve done wrong all these years....it’ll be too late.
The time to be happy is now...not the future. We cannot forget the journey and always wait for problems to be over, or occassions to pass to finally reach happiness. We need to learn that it will never end...obstacles will keep on arising, problems will keep on coming and walls will always be built infront of you....just so you can climb over them; just so you can learn and move past them...and while doing so...learn to be happy; now...Because it wont end...it will never end...you will always have problems, you will have to face challenges and that is the beauty of life...living to the fullest...living and accepting everything that is thrown your way. “The hardest thing in this world is to live in it” and sometimes, some of us forget to live waiting for the future to arrive.
In the end, if we keep on waiting for things to pass we will end upwith nothing; our lives will also have passed; slipped through your hands. Life will never be still...so don’t wait...be happy now because if you keep on living by waiting you will end up saying; “After I die...I’ll finally be happy...” |
